| So the first time I went dress shopping was many many months ago with my mom while I was slightly tipsy. We just went out to a couple of stores randomly and ended up trying some stuff out at David's Bridal. Tried on like, one dress that was actually cute on me. Not really serious that day, it was just being goofy and having fun.
Saturday went on my first *REAL* dress shopping excursion, and took both my mom and Nicole, my super awesome matron of honor. I tried on at least 20 if not 30 different dresses. Was actually thinking, wouldn't a tea length dress be cute? Totally perfect for dancing, can show off the fabulous shoes I'm sure I'll be finding, etc. First 4 dresses I tried were tea length ish dresses, very cute, but not exactly, wow, I'm a bride! When we informed Renee, our awesome little sales chic, that I'm obsessed with leopard print and that I'm a little on the different side, she grabbed the most unique dress she could, just for fun. Totally the most awesome dress I have ever laid eyes on... I totally look like a bride in it, it's a little more antique-style... Not your cookie cutter white poofy dress. Most of the other dresses, mom and Nicole saw other girls trying on, but no one tried on anything like this one. All the other dresses were very typical, gorgeous! but normal. This one is not.
Funny thing is, it's pretty similar to the style I was originally interested in. Mom insisted that I wouldn't look right, that it would emphasis my hips, etc. Mind you I have lost some weight recently and that totally helps, but still, it's funny that I ended up back to what I originally liked when I first started considering the idea of getting married.

| So the first two days of school have been pretty great. It's so neat seeing all my kids grown up now... I haven't seen them in two years! My kindergarteners from two years ago were my babies and now they're in second grade and just fantastic... I'm just really glad to be back there again.
For those of you that don't know, I have finally been hired at the school I was supposed to be at last year. I had subbed there for 9 weeks the year before and loved it. I was crushed when I was bumped out of the position last year, but I had a really great experience traveling between schools last year. What's really wonderful is how everyone is treating me- they're all telling me how happy they are to see me, welcome home, all that good stuff. It's really nice to actually feel like I belong somewhere finally.
I have my very own room with lots of storage space and lots of equipment. I have ridiculously supportive coworkers. I have fantastic kids. I am getting a new computer soon.

| So the book I'm reading? FanFreakingTastic. Seriously, this girl is so me. Read anything by her and it's hilarious.
Shaw is taking his last final for the summer. I took a bubble bath to celebrate.

| So when you're engaged, you are constantly fielding questions about the wedding planning process. I'm not saying this is bad- at this point, it's still fun to have the attention. But I imagine that as time goes by I will become agitated and eventually turn into a blathering steaming mess whenever anyone asks. So far I have been quite proactive, at least for me, knowing how much of a procrastinator I am.
-I have chosen the venue for both reception and ceremony. I have always wanted an outdoor wedding, and this place has a newly constructed pond and gazebo setup for such purposes. They are also very experienced in holding wedding ceremonies within the hall as well. The reception hall is fabulous- it's an L-shaped gigantic room with one wing being the dancing area and then the other being the dining and socializing area, with the bar in the center. I could not have asked for a place more perfect. -I have chosen the officiant for the ceremony, an old family friend. We decided it was way too much to expect Shaw's parents to perform the ceremony AND officiate- seriously, we're the first kids to get married, so we want them to totally be able to enjoy themselves. Plus, I've always wanted Kris to do my wedding. -I have not researched this, but the hall I'm going to offers ballroom dance classes during receptions. Hell yes. They also offer karaoke, which I am going to veto because I'd hog it all night long. -I have chosen bridesmaids. Groomsmen have not been chosen yet, though I'm thinking his brothers are a given. -I have given much thought to this situation, and I am in fact going to be wearing a dress. I will most likely choose some form of white or very light pastel color and stick to tradition. I have gone shopping once, just for kicks and giggles, and enjoyed the experience, mostly because my mother and I had been drinking beforehand. I now receive monthly/biweekly phone calls from Shelly at David's Bridal asking when I will be coming in.
That's my update.

| I am going to try something new to curb my horrid spending habits. Whatever I spend at Target, BBW, etc, I'm going to match with a deposit in my savings account. I will probably have my wedding paid for in the next two weeks by doing that. Maybe this way I can not only afford a wedding but also afford my dance lessons too!
